The Foot and Ankle Institute would like to congratulate Dr. Troy Watson on being recognized for multiple industry awards. Dr. Watson was recognized in the Health Care Quarterly edition of VEGAS INC published by Greenspun Media Group as a Top Doc for 2014, Vegas SEVEN also recognized him as a Top Doc for 2014, and most prestigiously, VITALS awarded Dr. Watson the Top 10 Doctor 2014 Most Compassionate Doctor award.
Less than 3% of the country’s 870,000 practicing physicians receive the Most Compassionate award. Dr. Watson was recognized for his incredible bed-side manner in addition to his top-of-the-line professionalism. Patients of Dr. Watson continually report that Dr. Watson genuinely cares about them.
VITALS used patient-provided ratings to select the Top Docs within a medical specialty per neighborhood. One percent of all doctors met the criteria set for the Top 10 Doctors Honor. Some of the criteria that was analyzed included years of experience, board-certification, education, extended training, disciplinary record, professional achievements and industry recognition.
Dr. Troy Watson is an active member in the Las Vegas-area community. He often participates in philanthropic events such as donating shoes, and offers foot screenings for the homeless. Healthy feet are critical to a healthy body and standard of living.
Dr. Watson also remains at the cutting-edge of technological advancements in his field. Most notably, saving professional boxer Sharif Bogere’s career after performing PRP (platelet-rich plasma) treatments to rapidly recover the athlete from an Achilles tendon injury.
In addition to seeing patients, and remaining a pillar of community involvement, Dr. Watson began teaching the Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Fellowship this year. A fellowship is a one-year training intensive program taught by a practicing acclaimed surgeon who is considered an expert in his or her sub-specialty of medicine. Doctors travel from all over the country — and world to train with Dr. Watson. Most recently, Dr. Hyuk Jegal from Seoul, Korea, and Dr. Dorian Reid from Tacoma, Washington completed Dr. Watson’s fellowship. Orthopedic surgeons that are fellowship trained have completed 4 years of premedical undergraduate studies, 4 years of medical school, a 5 year residency, and then a 1-year minimum fellowship.
